Godtube vs Jesustube

Well, Now We Have GodTube In case you have missed the latest craze....Godtube is here. A youtube clone for Christian videos. The site it controlled by the user base and site administrators to keep objectionable videos from being posted. I found this interesting because a secular blog picked it up and pointed out something.
"I think JesusTube would have been a better name choice, though, given that this is restricted to the Christian God."
This quote comes from a secular technology blog I like to read called techcrunch. I have posted about this subject before, but here is further proof that most of our culture is far beyond the notion that the concept of God is distinctly referring to the Christian God. As a Christian who has grown up in the church this used to really bother me. I thought, "Hey, that's our concept you cannot take it and change it!" But once I began to look into church planting and conversing with more people who did not believe what I believed, I have come to realize the issue of God shifting away from being considered a Christian concept is actually neutral. It merely changes the starting point for discussing the claims of Christianity. The character and essence of God come first, as opposed to Christ work on the cross. The Bible talks about how we are prone to reject God by our very nature. There are plenty of people who still think of God as an exclusively Christian concept, yet reject him all together. Therefore, the issue is not to get angry and fight to have our concept of God the default in everyone's mind. In fact, I believe we can even reject God ourselves when we do that. The goal for the church is to forge ahead and start communicating our view of God with love and compassion while disputing other views of God that contradict the Bible. It may actually be a blessing in disguise that the church in our culture must learn to start with talking about God even before talking about Jesus. For without understanding the absolute majesty of the creator God, we cannot communicate why our disobedience offends him so much, from the Christian and non-Christian alike. And without sin being offensive, the sacrifice of Christ becomes reduced to divine child abuse. So as you think about what it means to communicate Christ in our words and actions...start by asking what does it mean communicate that God is our creator and we owe him our worship as his creation.
