Spring Spruce Up on Grosvenor

Red Point Church partnered with the Building Department of the City of South Euclid, Ward 4 Councilwoman Jane Goodman, and the Hillcrest YMCA "Y Achievers Group" to spruce up a few homes on Grosvenor Avenue as well as throw a block party. Many thanks to Utilities Supply for their generous donation of mulch and top soil. Everyone involved had a great time and enjoyed the festivities. Feel free to contact Red Point if you would be interested seeing a Spruce Up Day on your street or hosting a block party. We would love to serve you. See the pics and write up in the local newsletter below.

*The event was highlighted twice in the July/August 2008 edition of Update on South Euclid

Thanks to Matt Jones and Micah Mills from Red Point Church, Housing Director Sally Martin and Saburo Montfort, who put together our first “Spruce Up” day on Grosvenor, and to all the neighbors and volunteers who mowed and mulched, weeded and edged to improve the block’s curb appeal and help older residents get their yards ready for summer. The block party was a smash!

- Jane Goodman, Ward 4 Councilwoman

In May, housing department volunteers worked with Pastor Matt Jones of the Red Point Church, the YMCA Black and Hispanic Achievers Program, Ward 4 Councilwoman Jane Goodman and numerous resident volunteers to beautify a section of Grosvenor Rd. It was inspiring to see neighbors helping neighbors. In four hours, we were able to work together to beautify more than 10 properties on the street. We ended the event with a fun block party that attracted scores of residents and friends. The event was so successful, Matt Jones and his volunteers are hoping to repeat it in neighborhoods throughout the city.
